
The online sale of counterfeit products is increasing, costing the clothing, cosmetics and toy industries more than €16 billion a year in lost sales and 200,000 jobs.
This is the impressive data published by the EUIPO, which does not take into account the damage caused to other equally affected sectors including: auto parts, food and beverages and jewellery.
One year after the Digital Services Act became fully applicable, we take stock of the effectiveness of the tools and measures available to brand owners, and also try to understand whether artificial intelligence will be another threat to the sector or a valid tool to contrast the commercialisation of counterfeit products.
